YouTube Launches New Interface for its TV App: What are the Major Changes?
YouTube has launched a new interface for its TV app, making watching and controlling videos easier than ever. What are the changes in this new design, and how beneficial is it for users? Let's find out...
Google has updated the video player for YouTube's TV app. The goal is to make watching videos on TV more enjoyable. The new design features simpler navigation, and the controls are now cleaner and easier to use. According to Google, this update doesn't completely change the app's look, but rather aims to make the screen less cluttered and video control easier with a remote. The new design enhances the YouTube viewing experience on TV.
What is the biggest change in the new update?
The biggest change in the new update is the video title. The video title will no longer appear as part of the player interface, but will instead be displayed in the upper left corner of the screen. It is no longer clickable, resulting in less clutter on the screen. Instead, YouTube has added a Description button, allowing users to view the video description, creator information, and comments all in one place. This makes accessing video information on TV easier and more organized than before.
Playback Controls and Button Layout
The playback experience has also been improved. The main controls, such as play, pause, and forward/backward skip, are now clearly visible. In the new interface, the buttons are arranged in three different sections. The left side displays the channel name, Description, and Subscribe button, the middle section has Previous, Play/Pause, and Next buttons, and the right side includes Like, Dislike, Comment, Save, Closed Captions, and Settings buttons. Additionally, the Subscribe button is always visible on the screen and is customized with a ‘Notify Me’ option for paid videos or upcoming live streams.
Some extra features have also been added
Users watching live sports can now see the ‘Multiview’ option, while the Display Mode feature is available for Music and YouTube Premium subscribers. The new interface is already appearing on devices like the Google TV Streamer and Apple TV, indicating a wider rollout of this update. YouTube aims to make the everyday video viewing experience on TVs simpler, cleaner, and more intuitive, without making major changes to the app itself.
