Senior clerks are expected to see a significant increase in their salaries after the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission. Let's find out how much a senior clerk's salary will increase.

Whenever a new pay commission is implemented in India, millions of government employees closely monitor its recommendations. Now, the 8th Pay Commission is in the news, sparking various speculations.

Especially, clerks and employees in lower positions want to know how much their salaries will increase. This is even more important for those working in the senior clerk position, as this position is present in a large number of government offices.

Currently, the senior clerk position falls under Pay Level 5. The lowest current basic pay at this level is ₹29,200. However, with the addition of grades, allowances, and other benefits, the salary can exceed this. Furthermore, grades change based on experience.

The most discussed issue in the 8th Pay Commission is the fitment factor. This is the coefficient that determines the increase in basic pay. Some reports estimate the fitment factor to be 2.86.

Some experts believe it could be between 1.92 and 2.08. If a fitment factor of 2.86 is implemented, a senior clerk's basic salary could reach around ₹83,000.

Dearness allowance (DA), HRA, and other allowances will be calculated based on this factor. This means the overall salary package will be even larger.

According to reports, after the 8th Pay Commission report is released, its recommendations could be implemented from January 1, 2026. This means employees will only have to wait a few months.
