Amidst the surging demand for LPG gas cylinders, the government has announced a significant benefit for customers opting for PNG connections. Specifically, the government is offering customers who sign up for a PNG connection up to ₹500 worth of free gas, while the utility companies have offered to waive the security deposit fee. The government has already directed residents in areas served by pipeline networks to switch to PNG within a three-month timeframe. Failure to do so will result in the termination of their LPG connections.

The ongoing conflict in the Middle East—and the resulting energy crisis—has disrupted the global supply of petrol, diesel, and gas. However, the government aims to transform this adversity into an opportunity; consequently, its objective is to encourage customers residing in PNG-serviceable areas to give up their LPG cylinders. Furthermore, customers holding both PNG and LPG connections have been instructed to immediately surrender their LPG cylinder connections.

Discounts and Attractive Offers
Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL)—a Delhi-based company involved in city gas distribution—has issued an advertisement appealing to the public to opt for PNG connections. The advertisement urges customers to "Switch to PNG the Smart Way," offering a waiver of the daily usage charge (typically ₹1 per day) for the first three months, along with a complete waiver of the registration fee. This offer remains valid until June 30, 2026. Switch today!

Why Switch from LPG to PNG?
Essentially, the volume of LPG imported into the country significantly exceeds that of PNG; therefore, the government is actively encouraging the public to adopt PNG. Another compelling reason is that the transportation costs associated with PNG are considerably lower compared to those of LPG cylinders. In the wake of the crisis triggered by the conflict involving Iran, approximately 220,000 customers have already successfully switched from LPG to PNG.

The Delhi government has approved PNG-related project work to proceed on a 24-hour basis, and the application process for obtaining a PNG connection has also been streamlined. It is worth noting that PNG billing is based on actual consumption measured via a meter, making it a more cost-effective option compared to LPG.
