Long queues, biometric failures, or incomplete rations—these issues had become commonplace, but the government has now devised a major solution to these problems. Under the new system, you will no longer be restricted to a single ration shop; instead, you can collect your rations from different shops according to your convenience—meaning it is now possible to pick up wheat from one location and rice from another, offering significant relief to the public. Union Minister of State BL Verma himself shared this information.

Union Minister of State BL Verma posted about the ration distribution system on his 'X' (formerly Twitter) handle. In the post, he explained that the government is implementing the 'One Nation One Ration Card' (ONORC) scheme to make the ration distribution system simpler and more transparent. Under this scheme, eligible beneficiaries can collect different parts of their quota—such as rice from one shop and wheat from another—from any corner of the country, based on their convenience.

This facility works just like withdrawing money from any ATM at your convenience; similarly, under the 'One Nation One Ration Card' (ONORC) scheme, you can collect your allocated ration from various Fair Price Shops.

Benefits of 'One Nation, One Ration Card'
The biggest advantage of the 'One Nation One Ration Card' (ONORC) is that it enables migrant workers and their families to collect their share of subsidized food grains from any Fair Price Shop (FPS) across India. Beneficiaries are no longer bound by the geographical limits of their home location; through biometric and Aadhaar authentication, they can avail ration benefits from any part of the country. This digital system facilitates the identification of duplicate or fake ration cards and curbs irregularities within the Public Distribution System (PDS).
