You can travel in an AC coach for free with a sleeper ticket; just do this simple thing.
Train Ticket Upgradation: You can get an AC seat even with a sleeper ticket. Find out what you need to do to make it easier for you.
Millions of people travel by train every day in the country, and everyone wants to enjoy more comfort at a lower cost. This is why, even with sleeper tickets, they often wish they could get a chance to sit in an AC coach.
Sometimes, people don't have the money to book an AC coach, so they travel in a sleeper. But did you know that you can also travel in an AC coach with a sleeper ticket? But you need to do one thing first.
The railway often rearranges seats during a journey. This means that if some seats remain vacant in an AC coach, the system can shift passengers from other coaches to them. The entire process is automatic. Therefore, your sleeper ticket can also be converted to AC.
To avail this facility, you must click on an option while booking a train ticket online with IRCTC. When you enter your ticket booking details, an option appears stating "Are you willing to be upgraded to a higher class?" Click "Yes."
If you select "No," your ticket will not be changed. However, if you don't select any option, "Yes" will automatically be selected. This means that if you don't have a sleeper ticket but have an AC ticket, your ticket will be upgraded to AC.
This facility is provided by the Railways, and no extra fee is charged. If AC seats are available, you can travel comfortably in an AC coach even with a sleeper ticket.
Also, if seats are available in an AC coach, the TTE can upgrade passengers with sleeper tickets to AC. This chance is especially high on night trains, as some people don't board at the last minute. However, this is subject to availability.
