FASTag Multiple Uses: FASTag is usually used to pay toll tax at toll plazas. However, now it can also be used for paying parking fees, paying traffic challans, insurance premium and EV charging. According to media reports, with about 11 crore FASTags issued by banks, the government aims to make it more convenient so that FASTag can be used for many different works simultaneously, which will benefit the people of the country.

Easy to manage transport and mobility services

Regarding this upgrade of FASTag, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and NHAI organized a workshop on Wednesday with senior officials of the Ministry of Finance and Fintech firms.

The aim of this workshop was to find new ideas about the use of FASTag and to know the opinion of fintech firms about this. During this, it was discussed that where else and for what purpose FASTag can be used apart from toll plazas.

Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari says that with the cooperation of fintech and other stakeholders, the government aims to develop the utility of FASTag as a strong platform, which will increase the convenience of the users, and also make it easier to manage transport and mobility services.

Apart from this, according to the report of Economic Times, the 'Multi Lane Free Flow' (MLFF) tolling system was also discussed in the meeting. This is a system in which toll tax is paid without stopping the vehicles at the toll plaza. This will not only help in better toll collection but will also get rid of the problem of jam at the toll plaza.
