Millions of employees in Uttar Pradesh may witness significant changes in the near future. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath (CM Yogi) has initiated preparations to implement a "Work from Home" policy—two days a week—for major companies, the IT sector, startups, and large-scale employers across the state. The government is expected to issue an advisory regarding this shortly.

Essentially, the government is emphasizing the adoption of innovative measures to address rising traffic congestion, fuel consumption, and the need for energy conservation. Following an appeal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi (PM Modi), Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a crucial meeting with officials on Tuesday, during which several key decisions were taken.

**Which Companies Might Be Covered by This Rule?**
The government is primarily focusing on establishments with a large workforce. This includes major private enterprises, IT firms, corporate offices, industrial units, and startups. These institutions will be advised to provide their employees with the option to work from home for two days each week.

The government believes that this initiative will reduce the daily volume of vehicles on the roads. It is expected to alleviate traffic congestion, conserve petrol and diesel, and help bring pollution under control to a significant extent. Furthermore, employees will find relief from the burden of long daily commutes.

**Emphasis on Public Transport Usage**
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has appealed to the public to make greater use of public transportation. He stated that in cities equipped with Metro rail services, people should opt to travel by Metro rather than using private vehicles. Additionally, there is a push to promote the use of state-run buses, other forms of public transport, and carpooling.

**Changes Expected in Government Offices as Well**
CM Yogi has issued directives mandating that 50 percent of all internal meetings within government departments be conducted online. Furthermore, seminars, conferences, and workshops should be organized in a virtual mode as frequently as possible. Schools and colleges have also been instructed to encourage and facilitate digital meetings.

**Plans to Observe a 'No Vehicle Day'**
The Chief Minister has also proposed observing a "No Vehicle Day" once a week. He has urged ministers, Members of Parliament (MPs), Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs), and government officials to utilize public transport at least one day a week, thereby sending a positive and exemplary message to the general public. The government believes that these steps are being taken not merely to save fuel, but with future needs in mind. If this scheme is implemented, the way of working in Uttar Pradesh could undergo a significant transformation.
