Farmer ID Process: If you benefit from government farmer schemes, this information is important for you. Without a Farmer ID, payments to your account may be stopped. Learn how to get one.

Farmer ID Process: Millions of farmers live across India. Many of these farmers are not financially well-off. The Indian government is running several schemes to provide support to the agricultural income of poor and marginal farmers. The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana was also launched with this objective, providing eligible farmers with Rs. 6000 annually. However, now a digital identity will be required for farmers under this scheme.

Under this system, a Farmer ID is being introduced. Farmers who do not have this ID may face delays or suspension of their payments. The government says that this will ensure that the benefits of the schemes reach the right people. It will also curb problems like fake names and duplicate entries. This means that every farmer now needs to get a Farmer ID. Learn how to get a Farmer ID.

Why has a Farmer ID become necessary?

A Farmer ID is essentially a complete digital profile of a farmer. It contains almost all the important information related to farming. Such as how much land the farmer owns, where the fields are located, which crops are grown, how seeds and fertilizers are used, details related to animal husbandry, and income from farming. The government will use this data to determine which farmers are eligible for which schemes.

The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi amount will also be linked to this ID. The advantage of this will be that the assistance money will reach the correct farmer's account directly without any interruption. It will also make it easier to identify fraudulent registrations and those receiving benefits illegally. In the future, most agricultural schemes, subsidies, and insurance benefits may be provided through this Farmer ID.

What is the process for getting a Farmer ID?

To get a Farmer ID, the farmer has to visit their state's AgriStack Portal. There, they need to click on the option to create a new user. After that, they have to enter their Aadhaar number and complete the KYC process. After this, the form needs to be submitted. Then, verification is done using the OTP received on the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar. After successful verification, you need to enter your mobile number again and verify it using another OTP. Now, set a new password and save it. This will create your user ID.

After logging in, select the "Owner" option in the Farmer Type section and click on "Fetch Land Detail." Here, you need to fill in the Khasra number and all the relevant land details. If the farmer owns more than one plot of land, it is necessary to provide details for all of them. Once the correct information is entered, the farmer ID is generated, and the farmer is ready to avail of government schemes.
