The annual fastag pass started from August 15 will be valid only on National Highway Authority of India i.e. NHAI authorized highways, expressways and roads. Apart from this, not on any other highway, expressway or road.
Now in such a situation, this question is also coming in the minds of many people. State highways do not come under NHAI. So will we have to get a separate pass to travel on state highways passing through the states. Because the annual pass will not work there.
So let us tell you that there will be no need to get a separate pass for this. Because the annual pass will be linked to the fastag installed in the vehicle. That is, the vehicles will already have a fastag. Toll will be deducted from that fastag on the state highway.
That is, after getting the fastag annual pass, if you travel on NHAI's highway, expressway. And somewhere in between you get a state highway. Then you will also have to keep balance in your fastag. Because toll will be deducted from there on the state highway.
The toll system on the state highway is operated by the state government or private operators. It is not operated by the National Highway Authority of India i.e. NHAI, which comes under the Ministry of Road and Transport.
Therefore, the annual fastag pass will not be valid on any state highway. And neither will you need any other pass for the state highway. You will be able to make payment on the state highway with normal fastag. Just keep in mind that it is necessary to have balance in it.
