This scheme has been implemented since January 2026. Now, women will not receive pink paper tickets, but a digital smart card, which will allow them to travel for free on DTC and cluster buses.

The Delhi government launched the free bus travel facility for women in 2019, known as the Pink Ticket scheme. This scheme provided relief to millions of women daily and saved them money on their travel expenses. However, over time, some problems arose with this system, such as misuse of tickets, people from outside Delhi taking advantage of the scheme, and the inconvenience of paper tickets. To eliminate these problems, the Delhi government has now introduced the Pink Saheli Smart Card scheme 2026.

This scheme has been implemented since January 2026. Now, women will not receive pink paper tickets, but a digital smart card, which will allow them to travel for free on DTC and cluster buses. As soon as the news of this scheme broke, many questions arose in the minds of women about whether every woman can get this card and whether there is any age limit for it. So, let's tell you today whether an age limit will apply to obtaining the Pink Saheli card and what the rules are.

Is there an age limit for the Pink Saheli card?

An age limit has been set for obtaining the Pink Saheli smart card. Under this scheme, women and transgender individuals aged 12 years or older can apply for the Pink Saheli card. Girls under 12 years of age will not receive this card, meaning that if a girl is 11 years old or younger, she will not be able to travel for free on buses using this smart card.

Who can get the Pink Saheli card?

1. Age requirement - The applicant must be at least 12 years old.

2. Must be a permanent resident of Delhi - This scheme is only for women and transgender people residing in Delhi. Women residing in the NCR (Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurugram) will not be eligible for this scheme. 3. Delhi Aadhaar Card is mandatory - The Aadhaar card must have a Delhi address. A Pink Saheli Smart Card will not be issued without an Aadhaar card with a Delhi address.

4. No income limit - There is no income limit for this scheme. Any woman in Delhi, whether poor, middle-class, or wealthy, is eligible.

How will the Pink Saheli Smart Card work?

This will be a digital smart card. When boarding the bus, the card will need to be tapped on the conductor's machine (ETM). It will work in the same way as a metro card. The card will have the user's name, photo, and a QR code to prevent misuse. The Delhi government plans to open counters at several locations for obtaining the Pink Saheli card, including DM offices, SDM offices, DTC bus depots, Common Service Centers (CSCs), and selected bank branches. Online application facilities may also be introduced in the future.
