According to reports, Meta has already begun testing this feature with a select group of creators. Through this initiative, the company aims to transform the user experience on Instagram and Facebook. Meta's objective is to encourage users to view Reels as cohesive episodes within a series, rather than merely scrolling through them individually. Additionally, this move is being viewed as an attempt to compete with TikTok, which has offered a similar feature since 2023.
How will the Series feature work?
With this feature, a dedicated page—labeled "Series"—will appear on a creator's profile. This page will list only those Reels that have been curated as part of a series. Creators will be able to include both newly created Reels and older ones within these series. This will make it easier for users to discover and watch videos related to a specific series or creator. Regarding the user feed, if a Reel belonging to a series appears in a user's feed, they will have the option to tap on it to view the remaining Reels within that same series.
Creators to Get an Opportunity to Earn Money
Meta is also considering monetizing this feature; while the company has not disclosed extensive details regarding this, it is widely believed that it will function similarly to TikTok. On TikTok, creators have the option to upload premium content in the form of a series, for which users are required to pay a fee to watch. Meta may adopt a similar approach in this regard. Speculation suggests that following the launch of this feature, mini-dramas could gain popularity on Instagram and Facebook—much like they have on TikTok. Creators on TikTok are currently generating substantial revenue through these mini-dramas.
