LPG Gas Connection e-KYC Fact Check: The central government and oil companies have made e-KYC mandatory for LPG subsidies starting October 1st. Meanwhile, claims are circulating on social media that failure to complete e-KYC will result in the disconnection of cooking gas services from October 1, 2026. However, this claim is not entirely accurate; no LPG consumer's gas connection will be cancelled or disconnected simply for not completing e-KYC.

In reality, starting October 1st, government subsidies for consumers who have not completed e-KYC will be withheld. This means that those who do not complete e-KYC will have to purchase LPG cylinders at the market price. According to the regulations of oil companies (such as Indane, Bharat Gas, and HP Gas) and the Ministry of Petroleum, a consumer's gas connection will not be cancelled or stopped due to the lack of e-KYC. Here is what changes if e-KYC is not done, along with easy ways to complete it from the comfort of your home using a mobile app or through the delivery person.

Impact of not completing e-KYC from October 1st
Consumers who do not complete e-KYC on time will lose the benefit of the government subsidy (approximately ₹210 per cylinder) starting October 1st. Once the subsidy benefit stops, you will have to purchase LPG cylinders at the non-subsidized market rate, which could increase your kitchen budget. Your connection will remain active; once you complete your biometric verification, you will resume receiving cylinders at the subsidized rate. Consumers who have already completed their biometric e-KYC do not need to repeat the process.
How to complete e-KYC in 2 minutes from home using your mobile
Complete e-KYC via the gas company's mobile app
First, download the 'AadhaarFaceRD' app from the Play Store.

Install the official app for your gas company:
Indane Gas: IndianOil ONE app
Bharat Gas: Hello BPCL app
HP Gas: HP PAY app

Easy way to complete e-KYC
Sign in to or register on the app using the mobile number linked to your gas connection. Navigate to the app's main menu or the 'LPG Services' section, then select the option to complete e-KYC or perform Aadhaar authentication. Tap on the 'Aadhaar Face Authentication' option; this will redirect you to the Aadhaar Face RD app. Position your phone's camera in front of your face—ensure you are not wearing glasses or a hat. Follow the on-screen instructions and blink your eyes. Once your face is successfully scanned, a message confirming the completion of e-KYC will appear on the screen, indicating that the process is finished.

Via the delivery person
When the cylinder is delivered to your home, you can instantly complete the e-KYC by providing your fingerprint on the delivery person's POS machine or mobile app.

By visiting the nearest distributor showroom
You can visit your local gas agency's showroom with your Aadhaar card, where your e-KYC will be completed via biometric fingerprint authentication at no cost.
