Will gas cylinders be unavailable without KYC? What happens now that the LPG deadline has passed?
The deadline for LPG e-KYC was August 31; effectively, the date for completing the process has now passed. Find out what will happen to those who haven't completed their KYC. Will the supply of gas cylinders stop?
The deadline for Aadhaar-based e-KYC for LPG customers expired on August 31. Oil marketing companies had initially set the deadline for August 23 but extended it to August 31. Domestic LPG customers who have not yet completed their e-KYC are likely wondering how this will affect cylinder booking and delivery from September 1 onwards. Will the supply of cylinders stop entirely without KYC?
Will cylinder supplies stop starting today?
It is important to note that the expiration of the August 31 deadline does not mean that every LPG connection lacking e-KYC will be deactivated on September 1. According to current information, refill supplies will continue, though the government and oil companies will decide on future restrictions for non-KYC customers. Therefore, if your e-KYC is pending, it is better to complete it promptly rather than waiting for a new order. Doing so can prevent future issues regarding cylinder booking, domestic pricing, and LPG-related benefits.
Be wary of social media reports claiming that those without KYC will be completely denied gas cylinders starting September 1; no such restriction has been imposed yet.
So, what will happen to those who do not complete their e-KYC?
e-KYC verifies that the LPG connection is registered to the genuine customer and ensures that gas provided at domestic rates is not misused. Customers who have not yet completed Aadhaar-based verification may face difficulties in booking refills or obtaining cylinders at domestic rates in the future. In other words, while you can still get gas cylinders for now, delaying e-KYC indefinitely would not be wise.
What should you do if you haven't completed your KYC by August 31?
If you have missed the deadline, there is no need to panic. Complete the e-KYC process as soon as possible. To do this, contact your LPG distributor or complete the procedure via your company's official app. Additionally, if you have already completed the e-KYC but it still shows as 'pending' via SMS or on the app, make sure to verify the status with your distributor.
