Do you know whether banks will be closed tomorrow, October 29, for Karwa Chauth? Find out here which cities will have bank closures—and where banking services will remain operational—according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday list.

The festival of Karwa Chauth is being celebrated this year on Thursday, October 29. Many offices will remain closed on this day. If you are planning to visit a bank to complete any urgent tasks, be sure to check the holiday list first; if there is a bank holiday in your city, you might face some inconvenience.

Banks will not be closed across the entire country on Karwa Chauth. You can check here to see where banks will remain closed, based on the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar.

Where will banks be closed on Karwa Chauth?

According to the RBI holiday list, banks will be closed only in Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, on October 29 for Karwa Chauth. This means that bank branches in Shimla will not be operating as usual for customers. In contrast, banks in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, and other cities across the country will remain open.

When else are banks closed in October?

Following the closure in Shimla tomorrow, October 29, the next scheduled closure is on Saturday, October 31—the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel—when banks in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, will remain closed. Subsequently, a series of bank holidays will begin following the weekly holiday on November 1.

Will you still be able to withdraw money?

Even if your local bank branch is closed, many routine banking tasks can be handled online. UPI payments remain functional on holidays; you can send money using apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, and other UPI platforms. Additionally, you can still withdraw cash from ATMs.

What should you do before heading to the bank?

If you need to deposit a cheque, update your passbook, or carry out any significant cash-related transactions, it would be best to get these tasks done before the holiday. Since Karwa Chauth is not a bank holiday across the entire country, be sure to check the situation in your specific city.
