Why will schools and colleges remain closed in Delhi-NCR on July 10? Check the list here.
Due to heavy rainfall, all schools (Classes 1 to 12) in Ghaziabad and Meerut will remain closed on July 10. Meanwhile, schools in Delhi-Noida and Gurugram-Faridabad remain open. Check the latest updates before heading out.
Delhi-NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh have been experiencing continuous torrential rain over the past few days. While the monsoon showers have brought relief from the scorching heat and humidity, they have also caused issues like waterlogging and traffic jams in several areas. In light of the heavy rainfall and weather department warnings, the administration has declared a holiday for schools and colleges in several districts on July 10. If you reside in Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida, Gurugram, or Meerut, please check whether your child's school is open or closed before leaving home.
Ghaziabad: All schools closed due to 'Orange Alert'
The district administration in Ghaziabad has taken a major decision in view of the continuous rainfall. The Meteorological Department has issued an 'Orange Alert' for Ghaziabad and surrounding areas, indicating a high probability of heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, storms, and lightning. Waterlogging in various places makes it difficult and dangerous for children to commute to school. Considering this, the Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) of Ghaziabad, acting on the District Magistrate's instructions, has issued an official order declaring a holiday for all schools in the district on July 10.
This order applies to all schools—from nursery up to Class 12—regardless of whether they are government-run, private, or affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, or the UP Board. All schools will remain completely closed today. The administration has issued a stern warning that strict legal action will be taken against any school that fails to comply with this order.
Meerut: Schools and Colleges (Classes 1–12) Closed
Like Ghaziabad, normal life in Meerut has been disrupted by the rain. Waterlogging has made movement difficult in residential colonies and on main roads. In view of the situation, the District Magistrate of Meerut has issued a strict order to keep all schools and colleges closed on July 10. This order applies to all students from Class 1 to Class 12. The administration maintains that the safety and lives of children cannot be compromised. This order applies equally to all government, private, and aided schools in Meerut.
Are schools open in Delhi?
Following the news of closures in Ghaziabad and Meerut, parents in Delhi are also wondering if schools in the capital will remain closed on July 10. In fact, there is no official holiday in Delhi. No government order regarding school closures for July 10 has been issued by the Delhi government or the Directorate of Education (DoE).
What is the situation in Noida and Gurugram?
The impact of the rain is also being felt in Noida, Greater Noida, and Gurugram, which border Delhi. The District Magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagar has not issued any order to close schools on July 10; consequently, all schools in Noida are open as usual. Similarly, there has been no official announcement regarding school closures in Gurugram and Faridabad, Haryana.
