Why such a huge rush for the BCCL IPO?
Even though the market is closed today, there is tremendous activity in the primary market (IPO). The IPO of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), a subsidiary of Coal India, has broken all records. This offer of Rs 1,071.11 crore was snapped up by investors and was subscribed to a total of 98.51 times. The most enthusiasm was seen among large investors (NIIs), who subscribed 203 times. Retail investors also subscribed nearly 38 times. This shows that even though the market may be volatile, people have no shortage of money for good IPOs.
What was the market sentiment on Wednesday?
Yesterday, Wednesday, the market sentiment was somewhat negative. Both the Sensex and Nifty closed lower for the second consecutive day. The Sensex slipped 245 points to 83,382, while the Nifty fell 67 points to 25,665. The main reason behind the market decline is the new US tariff policies, which are impacting markets worldwide. However, even amidst this downturn, metal and public sector bank (PSU bank) stocks saw a significant surge. The metal index jumped by nearly 2.70 percent, which was the most positive development of the day.
