Why is the dependence of students on coaching centers increasing? The central government has formed a committee to investigate

The central government has formed a committee to investigate the increasing dependence of students on coaching centers. This committee will have 9 members. Along with this, this committee will also suggest measures to reduce the dependence of students on coaching centers.
The Ministry of Education has constituted a 9-member committee to investigate the increasing trend of coaching institutes and 'dummy schools' as well as the effectiveness and fairness of entrance examinations. The committee headed by Higher Education Secretary Vineet Joshi will suggest measures to reduce the dependence of students on coaching centers for admission to higher education. A senior official of the Ministry of Education said, "The committee will investigate the flaws in the current school education system, due to which students become dependent on coaching centers. In particular, this committee will look at how the tendency to rote learning is dominant and limited attention is being paid to critical thinking, logical discretion, analytical ability, and innovation."
What are dummy schools?
A large number of students preparing for engineering and medical entrance examinations prefer to enroll in 'dummy' schools so that they can focus only on preparing for competitive exams. They do not attend classes and directly appear in the board exams. Candidates also choose 'dummy' schools to take advantage of reservation in the respective state for admission to medical and engineering colleges. For example, candidates who complete their schooling in Delhi become eligible for Delhi state quota in medical colleges, giving them an additional incentive to enroll in 'dummy' schools in the capital.
Dummy schools will be investigated
The official said, "The reasons behind the emergence of such 'dummy' schools will be investigated and the committee will study their role in encouraging full-time coaching at the expense of formal schooling and suggest measures to reduce them." The committee will study the effectiveness and fairness of competitive entrance examinations in the context of the school education system and their impact on the growth of the coaching industry. Other members of the committee include the Chairman of CBSE, Joint Secretaries of the School Education and Higher Education departments. Apart from this, representatives from IIT Madras, NIT Trichy, IIT Kanpur and NCERT; and principals of schools (one each from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Navodaya Vidyalaya and private school) will also be part of the committee.
