RBI Cheque Clearing Rules: The Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) new cheque clearing system came into effect on October 4, 2025, but it is now experiencing problems. The RBI introduced this new system with the goal of ensuring that Chequesare cleared within hours after being deposited in the bank, and funds are deposited into accounts instantly.

However, due to technical glitches and a lack of proper staff training, problems have now arisen in the Cheque clearing and settlement system. Even after the implementation of the new system, people are now having to wait more than two days for their Cheques to clear, despite the plan being to ensure quick Cheque clearance and instant cash transfers.

Bank customers are facing problems again

According to a report in The Telegraph, a resident of Kolkata's Jadavpur area said, "I deposited an Indian Bank Cheque into my current account at IndusInd Bank on Tuesday morning. I was initially told that the Cheque would clear within the same day under the new system. Later, when the money didn't arrive in my account by evening, I was told that the Cheque would be sent for clearance using the old method due to a problem with the scanning machine. I was assured that the money would be credited to my account by the evening of the next day, but even after more than 48 hours, there has been no update."
