Ladaki Bahin Yojana News: Maharashtra Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare clarified about the Ladki Bahin Yojana that the government will only resolve the complaints received about fake beneficiaries.
Maharashtra Ladaki Bahin Yojana: The Maharashtra government has decided to take action on the basis of complaints about fake beneficiaries of the 'Chief Minister Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana'. Along with this, information has been sought from the Income Tax Department and the Transport Department for their verification. Maharashtra Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare made this announcement on Thursday. She clarified that the government will only resolve complaints about fake beneficiaries.
According to news agency PTI, eligible women are given a monthly allowance of Rs 1,500 under the Ladki Bahin Yojana, launched by the previous government led by Eknath Shinde in August last year. The Maharashtra government is not running any campaign to check the beneficiaries of the Ladki Bahin Yojana. We have not changed any government policy. However, later Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis indicated that the beneficiaries of the scheme would be investigated.
What did the Women and Child Development Minister say?
Aditi Tatkare said that we are only addressing the complaints lodged in local government offices. Earlier she had said that no investigation would be done regarding the beneficiaries of the scheme. We have sought data from the Income Tax Department and the State Transport Department, as some complaints involve beneficiaries whose annual income exceeds the prescribed limit of Rs 2.5 lakh or who own four-wheelers.
He said that once we get this data, we will be able to address those complaints. When asked how many of the 2.5 crore beneficiaries can be removed from the scheme after the investigation. He said that we do not have any data about how many beneficiaries will be excluded from the scheme. We need some time to get information about it.
'People are taking benefits by giving false documents'
He gave an example and said that some women have gone to Karnataka after getting married. In such a situation, the local authorities had received reports of the beneficiaries submitting false documents to claim the benefits. He said that some beneficiaries have informed the state government that they want to withdraw their name from this scheme after getting a government job.
Regarding the beneficiaries receiving financial assistance from other schemes, he said that if a beneficiary is getting assistance from any other government scheme, then we will only provide the difference matching fund.
He gave an example that if a woman gets Rs 1,000 under one scheme and then enrolls in the Ladki Behan Yojana, then she will get Rs 500 from the state government instead of the full Rs 1,500. Complaints have come from districts like Palghar, Yavatmal, Wardha, and Phaltan in Satara, due to which the ministry has thought of starting the cross-verification process.
