If someone is planning to travel abroad, then he must have a passport. Without this, no one can travel internationally.

A standard procedure is followed to obtain a passport in India. After applying, you have to go to the passport office. After document verification, there is a police verification process.

As of March 2023, there are 37 regional passport offices, 93 passport seva kendras, and 424 post office passport seva kendras in India.

To apply for a passport, you will have to submit several important documents, including proof of address, proof of date of birth, and other required documents.

For proof of date of birth, you can submit any of the following: birth certificate, school leaving certificate, Aadhaar card, voter ID card, PAN card, or driving license.

However, in October last year, the government amended the passport rules. As per these changes, some documents will no longer be accepted as proof of date of birth for certain individuals.

For children born on or after October 1, 2023, only the birth certificate will be accepted as proof of date of birth while applying for a passport. Children born before October 1, 2023, can also submit previously accepted documents in addition to the birth certificate.
