The Delhi government has launched the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana to strengthen the education and financial security of girls. The aim of this scheme is to ensure that no girl's education is interrupted due to financial reasons, enabling her to complete her education through a graduate or diploma course. According to the government, this scheme is a new and expanded version of the old Ladli Yojana, which now provides a higher amount and supports girls in pursuing higher education. So, let us tell you today who can avail the benefits of the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana and what documents are required.
Who can avail the benefits of the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana?
The Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana is only available to families whose annual income does not exceed ₹1.20 lakh. The family must have resided in Delhi for the past three years, and the daughter must have been born in Delhi. A maximum of two daughters per family is eligible for this scheme. Registration for the scheme can be done within one year of birth, or an application can be made during schooling. The scope of this scheme has now been extended to daughters pursuing a graduate or diploma degree at any government or UGC-recognized institution in the country. The maturity amount under this scheme will be available after the age of 21 and only after fulfilling the educational requirements.
How much will be available under the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana?
Under this scheme, the government will deposit a total of ₹56,000 in the name of the daughters in different installments. This amount will be transferred at the time of birth and during the daughter's schooling. After adding interest, this amount can exceed ₹1 lakh by the age of 21. The previous Ladli Yojana allowed withdrawals at the age of 18. But now it has been linked to higher education, allowing girls to complete graduation or diploma courses.
