Free Ration App Download: If you benefit from the government's free ration scheme, this news is relevant to you. Residents of Chandigarh or Dadra and Nagar Haveli will now receive ration subsidies via a mobile wallet; completing eKYC is a prerequisite for this.
If you haven't installed the specific app for the government subsidy on your mobile or completed eKYC, you might face issues in receiving your rations.
Which app needs to be downloaded for the ration subsidy?
Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, ration funds will be transferred to beneficiaries' wallets using the CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currency) wallet. This is a digital wallet designed to store and transact using the official digital currency issued by the RBI—the Digital Rupee (e₹).
How do you use this digital wallet on your mobile?
The CBDC wallet operates on your smartphone via the bank's official e₹ (Digital Rupee) app. Simply put, you need to download the e₹ (Digital Rupee) app of the bank where you hold an account. The government will then transfer your ration funds into this app. Subsequently, you can visit the ration shop, make payments by scanning a QR code through the app, and avail the benefits of free rations.
Completing eKYC is now very easy
You can now handle many tasks from the comfort of your home, and completing ration card eKYC is one of them. Currently, the online eKYC facility is not available in all Indian states. If this facility is available in your state, you can complete the eKYC process from home as follows:
How to complete eKYC?
You need to follow a few simple steps to complete the eKYC process. First, install the 'Mera eKYC' and 'Aadhaar Face RD' apps on your mobile phone.
Next, open the 'Mera eKYC' app and select your state.
Then, enter the required information.
After that, enter your Aadhaar number.
An OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar; enter this OTP.
Once verified, click on the 'Face e-KYC' option.
Then, position your face in front of the camera.
The e-KYC process will be completed once your face is successfully matched.
Note: If the online option is not working in your state, you can visit a nearby ration shop to complete the biometric e-KYC for free.
What to do if you face issues with online e-KYC?
If you encounter difficulties performing e-KYC on your mobile or if your face cannot be scanned, you can visit a nearby ration dealer's shop to complete the process.
