Following the completion of their four-year military service under the Agnipath scheme, the Centre and various states are making announcements regarding the future of Agniveers. Former Agniveers may avail reservation benefits in Central Armed Police Forces and state police services. Many states have announced specific reservation quotas, age relaxations, and other facilities. Upon completion of their service, 75 percent of the personnel leave the armed forces. Provisions for government jobs in various states are being made with these young individuals in mind. Let us now look at the specific quotas available for Agniveers in different states.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has made special provisions for the recruitment of former Agniveers as Constables/Riflemen in Central Armed Police Forces and the Assam Rifles. According to government updates, 50 percent of vacancies are reserved for ex-servicemen. Candidates from the first batch will receive a five-year relaxation in the upper age limit, while subsequent batches of former Agniveers will get a three-year relaxation. Additionally, they will be exempted from the PST-PET (Physical Standard Test and Physical Efficiency Test) and the written examination.

20% Reservation in Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh has decided to provide a 20 percent reservation for former Agniveers in five uniformed government services within the state. These include posts such as Police Constable, Special Armed Force personnel, Jail Guard, Forest Guard, and Excise Constable.

10% Quota and Exam Exemption in Maharashtra

The Maharashtra government has decided to provide a 10 percent reservation for former Agniveers in several uniformed Group-C and paramilitary-style services within the state. These include posts in the Police, Prison, Fire Services, Home Guards, Excise, and Forest departments. Provisions exist in certain states to exempt eligible ex-Agniveers from the written examination. Additionally, for several posts, training acquired during military service is recognized as a substitute for the initial recruitment training.

Opportunity in Chhattisgarh Police

Chhattisgarh has introduced a 10% reservation for ex-Agniveers. This benefit applies to direct recruitment for posts such as police constables, forest guards, and jail guards. The facility is available to ex-Agniveers who have completed their four-year service tenure and possess a valid service certificate.

Preference in Uttar Pradesh Police and PAC

Uttar Pradesh has announced that Agniveers will be given preference during recruitment for the police force and the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC). The state government intends to leverage the skills and discipline acquired by Agniveers during their military service for police recruitment.

Benefits in Rajasthan

The Rajasthan government has announced reservation for ex-Agniveers in the police department, as well as for posts like jail guards and forest guards. This means they will be eligible for reservation benefits in recruitment for these departments after completing their four-year service.

Reservation in Various Recruitments in Haryana

The Haryana government has announced a 10% reservation for Agniveers in recruitments for posts such as police constables, mining guards, forest guards, jail warders, and Special Police Officers (SPOs). Furthermore, provisions have been made for age relaxation in Group B and Group C recruitments.

10% Quota in Uniformed Services in Odisha

The Odisha government has decided to provide a 10% reservation for Agniveers in the state’s uniformed services. Additionally, it has announced a five-year age relaxation regarding eligibility for other government services.

Apart from Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh, other states have also introduced various provisions for Agniveers. Uttarakhand has announced reservation for Agniveers in the police and other government departments. Meanwhile, Gujarat has announced that priority will be given to Agniveers in recruitment for the armed police and State Reserve Police. Arunachal Pradesh has also announced that preference will be given to former Agniveers in recruitment for police battalions and emergency fire services. Additionally, the Assam government has decided to induct the majority of the state’s Agniveers into the police service.
