When is the solar panel subsidy amount credited to the bank account? How to track the status?
The government is actively promoting the installation of solar panels, and people are increasingly installing them on their rooftops to reduce electricity bills. If you are considering installing solar panels, you can take advantage of the Central Government's 'PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana' (Free Electricity Scheme). Under this scheme, eligible individuals receive a subsidy for the installation. However, it is also important to know when the subsidy amount is actually credited to your bank account.
**What is the process for solar panels and the subsidy?**
To avail of the government subsidy for solar panels, you must first apply online. The process is straightforward: visit the 'PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana' portal, select your state, and register by entering your consumer account number and the name of your electricity provider. Next, submit your application for the solar panel. Following the application, the electricity company will inspect your premises and grant approval for the installation. Once approved, you must have the solar panels installed by a vendor empanelled with the government.
After the solar panel installation, you need to apply for a net meter. Once the meter is installed, the electricity department will upload the 'Commissioning Certificate' to the portal. You will then need to upload your bank account details and a cancelled cheque to initiate the subsidy disbursement process.
**When will the subsidy money be credited?**
The subsidy amount is credited to your account within 30 to 45 days after the electricity department submits the Commissioning Certificate (following the net meter installation). You can also track the status of your subsidy; by entering your registered mobile number on the PM Surya Ghar portal, you can view the complete status of your application.
