Popularly known as Status Privacy Confirmation, the feature is being tested in the beta version of the app for the Android platform. According to the report, it may allow users to quickly select their audience before sharing a status update. The information comes amid another report that suggests that WhatsApp may also be testing a new layout for the status update page.
Status Privacy Confirmation on WhatsApp
According to WhatsApp beta feature tracker WABetaInfo, the instant messaging platform's new Status Privacy Confirmation feature is being rolled out on WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.12.27. According to the report, users may see a new window that will allow them to select the contacts with whom they want to share their status updates.
Gadgets 360 verified the availability of this feature in the second version of WhatsApp beta for Android. It is claimed that it is currently available to beta testers who install WhatsApp beta through the Google Play Store beta program. Those who do not have access to it yet are expected to get it in the coming days.
The screenshot shows that users now have two options while sharing status updates, the first being All Contacts and the second being Specific Contacts. The first option also allows them to exclude some contacts from seeing status updates without changing the settings individually. The feature tracker speculates that this move could give users more control over Evsee in status updates. It is worth noting that this feature was reportedly available on WhatsApp for iOS and the feature tracker claims that it was introduced with app version 24.10.10.75 through the TestFlight beta program.
New layout for status updates
The rollout of a new UI layout for the status update page was also revealed recently. It is said to be introduced with WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.12.20. According to leaks, a new and larger thumbnail has been introduced for status updates, replacing the existing small circular window. It is expected that users will be able to view status updates without opening this thumbnail.
