WhatsApp is testing a new feature for Android users, which will now allow them to do real-time voice chat with Meta AI. According to a feature tracker report, this new artificial intelligence (AI) feature is being made available to select beta testers. Users can either start a voice chat directly or switch to voice mode while in the chatbot interface.

What will be available in voice mode?

According to a report by WABetaInfo, this new feature has been seen in WhatsApp's Android beta version 2.25.21.21. Users will get the option to start a voice chat with Meta AI by tapping on the waveform icon in the chat interface.

Voice Preferences Settings: By going to Settings, through the 'Voice Preferences' option, users can go to automatic voice mode as soon as they open the chat. This option is off by default and applies only to the chat tab.

Changes in the call tab: If a user is in the call tab, the icon of Meta AI will automatically change to a waveform and voice chat will start by default.

New Features and Flexibility
Voice mode has many customization options. Some suggested topics will be shown in the center of the chat interface so that users can easily start a conversation. Apart from this, there will also be a Collapse Icon in the top left, so that users can open another app by taking the voice chat to the background.

How to end a voice chat?

Users can end a voice chat by pressing the X button.

Chats can also be closed by exiting the chat interface.

If users start typing in the text field, the chat will automatically switch to text mode.

If users are not clear whether the voice chat is still going on or not, they can confirm it with a notification alert or Android's microphone indicator.
