WhatsApp's new voice message transcript feature
WhatsApp's latest feature, Voice Message Transcript, allows users to transcribe voice messages into text. This means that no matter where you are or what you are doing, you can quickly read the content of the voice message without listening to it.
The best part is that transcripts are generated locally on your device, ensuring that your messages remain private. Even WhatsApp itself cannot listen to or read your voice messages.
Feature availability
On Android, WhatsApp supports transcripts in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian.
For iOS 16, supported languages include French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Turkish, Chinese, and Arabic.
On iOS 17 or later, WhatsApp adds support for languages like Danish, Finnish, Hebrew, Malay, Norwegian, Dutch, Swedish, and Thai.
WhatsApp plans to expand the availability of this feature to more languages in the future.
How to enable the voice message transcript feature
Open WhatsApp and go to the Settings menu.
Tap Chats.
Look for the option labeled Voice message transcript and turn it on.
After activating the feature, go to any chat containing voice messages.
Long press the voice message and then tap Transcribe to view the transcript of the voice message.
This new feature will be rolled out globally in the coming weeks, giving users a more convenient and accessible way to interact with voice messages on WhatsApp.
