PUC Rules: In Delhi, you will not get fuel at petrol pumps if your vehicle does not have a valid PUC certificate. Breaking the rules can result in a heavy fine, and repeated violations may lead to the vehicle being seized.

The national capital, Delhi, is once again gripped by thick smog, and the air quality is deteriorating rapidly. Because of this, stricter measures have been implemented for vehicle owners. If you go to a petrol pump with a vehicle that does not have a valid PUC certificate, you could face trouble.

From today, December 18th, the "No PUC, No Fuel" rule has been fully implemented in Delhi. This means that if you don't have a valid PUC certificate at a petrol, diesel, or CNG pump, the staff will refuse to serve you. Documents will be checked at the pump itself, and no exceptions will be made.

Many people are now wondering whether their vehicle will be seized in such a situation. Simply put, vehicle seizure is not mandatory in every case. However, if you are repeatedly found driving a vehicle without a PUC certificate, violating the rules, the traffic police can take strict action, including seizing the vehicle. After the implementation of GRAP-4, non-BS-6 private vehicles coming from outside Delhi are completely banned. Traffic police and transport department teams are deployed at the border areas.

Vehicles are being identified through ANPR cameras and manual checks, and those violating the rules are being turned back. If any vehicle violates these rules, a fine of up to Rs. 20,000 can be imposed.

This fine can be levied for driving without a PUC certificate, driving a restricted vehicle, or violating GRAP rules. In some cases, vehicles are being diverted, while in serious violations, seizure is also possible. Surveillance has also been significantly increased at petrol pumps.

More than 126 checkpoints have been set up in Delhi, and over 500 police personnel are deployed at the pumps. Every vehicle's entry is being monitored with the help of audio alert systems and cameras. In this situation, it is wise for drivers to check their documents before leaving home. Having a PUC (Pollution Under Control) certificate is essential.
