MP Gram Pradhan Salary: Do you know how much village heads in Madhya Pradesh earn? If not, we'll tell you today. Let's find out the details...

Whenever villages are discussed, the first thing that comes to mind is the village head. But do you know how much a village head in Madhya Pradesh earns per month? If not, we'll tell you today, and also explain what changes will occur in their salaries after the 8th Pay Commission. Let's find out...

According to various reports, the village head, or sarpanch, in Madhya Pradesh is paid ₹4,250 per month, as an honorarium. The village head's responsibilities include overseeing development work in the village, including MNREGA. The Gram Panchayat has several important powers within its jurisdiction. They can construct and maintain public roads, bridges, and waterways. Additionally, they can initiate minor irrigation schemes. The Gram Panchayat also ensures that bushes or tree branches on public roads are trimmed to keep the road safe and clean.

Regarding the 8th Pay Commission, there will be no change in the salaries of Gram Pradhans after its implementation. Their current honorarium will remain the same. However, if the state government increases the honorarium, their monthly salary will increase.

How are elections conducted?

Actually, Panchayat elections are held at three levels, the first being the Gram Panchayat. At this level, the village population directly elects its Gram Pradhan. Elections for the Gram Pradhan are general elections, with no political party directly interfering. The villagers independently select their Pradhan. If the post of Pradhan becomes vacant, a new one is usually re-elected through direct voting. However, if the post of Pradhan is vacant for less than six months, the Gram Panchayat will be re-elected.
