IOCL, BPCL, and HPCL released new petrol and diesel rates early this morning—information that is essential for anyone needing to drive out for work or other commitments.

A sharp drop in crude oil prices was observed on Monday, bringing them below $100 per barrel. This comes as a major relief for a country like India, which relies heavily on crude oil imports; India sources over 85% of its oil requirements from abroad. However, state-owned oil marketing companies remain cautious amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions. Against this backdrop of uncertainty, the companies have announced new petrol and diesel prices. There has been no change in petrol and diesel prices on October 6, and rates remain stable at previous levels.

Nayara Energy hikes prices

Private sector oil company Nayara Energy recently raised petrol and diesel prices, sparking concerns about whether state-owned oil companies might follow suit. Nayara Energy increased prices across its network of over 7,000 petrol pumps nationwide. The company hiked the price of petrol by ₹5 per liter and diesel by ₹3 per liter. Consequently, petrol is now retailing at ₹119.54 per liter and diesel at ₹102.64 per liter at Nayara Energy pumps. On a positive note, state-owned oil companies have not yet increased fuel rates.
