What is the new deadline for LPG e-KYC? Will the connection really be disconnected if it is not completed on time?
The issuance of new LPG gas connections has been suspended, and neither the government nor the companies have announced when the service will resume. Meanwhile, the government has directed all LPG consumers to update their e-KYC. This step is crucial because there are numerous fraudulent gas connections—some obtained for commercial purposes—that have existed for years; many were secured using forged documents or in the names of other individuals. Consequently, the government has advised consumers who have not completed their KYC in years to undergo the process now.
It is reported that while a large number of consumers have been using LPG for years, those holding connections obtained through fake documents or in others' names are failing to complete the e-KYC process. The e-KYC verification is expected to expose such fraudulent consumers.
**New e-KYC Deadline Set**
Initially, the government had set a deadline of August 23 for all LPG consumers to complete the e-KYC process. However, this deadline has now been extended to August 31, allowing consumers until that date to finalize the procedure.
**Will the Connection Be Disconnected if e-KYC Is Not Done?**
While LPG consumers are being urged to complete their e-KYC, failure to do so will not result in an immediate disconnection of the gas service. However, not completing the e-KYC could lead to difficulties in booking cylinders. This could not only delay gas bookings but also result in the suspension of your subsidy. Completing the e-KYC process will restore these services and benefits.
