Medical Store Opening: Nowadays, people are trying their hand at various things instead of just jobs. Both young and experienced individuals want to start different types of businesses to increase their income and freedom. A medical store is one such option, as there is always a demand for medicines and health-related needs. In every small town and neighborhood, people look for a trustworthy medical store. Therefore, opening a store in the right location and following the correct regulations is crucial.

However, simply investing money is not enough. You need to complete certain necessary courses and obtain government permission. Opening a store without the proper degree and license is considered illegal and carries the risk of heavy fines or closure. Let's tell you what course is required to open a medical store and where to get the permission.

Which course is required?

To open a medical store, a degree or diploma related to pharmacy is essential. The most common course is the Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm), which is a two-year program and is completed at a recognized institution. Alternatively, you can also pursue a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm).

This is a four-year degree course. These courses provide training in drug identification, storage, dispensing, and medical ethics. After completing the course, you become legally eligible to open a medical store. If a pharmacist is required at the store, the person who has completed this course is responsible as the pharmacist.

Where to get permission and a license?

To open a medical store, obtaining a license from the Pharmacy Council and the state government is mandatory. For this, you first need to apply under your state's Pharmacy Act. Along with the application, you need to submit your D.Pharm or B.Pharm degree, the store's address, rent or ownership documents, and information about sanitation. You can only purchase and sell medicines after obtaining a license. In addition, GST registration and a Shop & Establishment License are also required. After obtaining the license, you must comply with the regulations regarding regular audits and inspections by the drug inspector. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of your license.
