Now in the wedding season, cybercriminals have invented another way of cheating. Now these cyber criminals are sending fake wedding cards on WhatsApp from unknown numbers. Through this, fraudsters can empty your bank account in a jiffy. According to the police, cybercriminals have started a new trend of cheating by sending an Android Packaging Kit (APK).
CNBC-Awaaz's Aseem Manchanda said that the Department of Telecommunications has issued an advisory on this. Be careful before opening an unknown file. This software can be downloaded on mobile. Scammers are sending fake APK files. There is a possibility of fraud as soon as this file is downloaded. Through this, your account can be emptied without OTP. Complain about any such fraud on number 1930.
If you see an APK file, be careful.
To avoid this fraud, first check the file type. Keep in mind that the real wedding invitation usually comes in the form of a video or PDF file. It is not sent in an APK file. If the wedding card is in an APK file, then be alert immediately. APK file is a clear sign that someone is trying to cheat you. APK i.e. Android Package Kit contains an application code. If the APK file gets installed in your phone unknowingly, then it should be removed from the mobile immediately.
