Waiting Ticket Solution: IRCTC’s ‘Opt Vikalp’ feature helps in confirming waiting-list tickets. With this facility, your ticket can be transferred to a different train and subsequently confirmed.

IRCTC Opt Vikalp Feature: If your train ticket is stuck in the waiting list, there is no need to panic. IRCTC’s ‘Opt Vikalp’ feature can prove to be extremely useful in such situations. With the help of this feature, your waiting-list ticket can be converted into a confirmed seat on a different train. Additionally, this increases your chances of getting a confirmed ticket.

The best part is that you do not need to take any extra steps to utilize this service. You simply need to select this option while booking your ticket. Subsequently, the system automatically attempts to confirm your ticket on an alternative train, based on seat availability. Let’s find out how you can take advantage of this facility.

What is this feature?

The IRCTC website and app offer a special feature known as ‘Opt Vikalp.’ It is designed specifically for passengers whose tickets remain on the waiting list even after the reservation chart has been prepared. In such instances, this feature assists in confirming your ticket if a seat becomes available on another train operating on the same route.

How does this feature work?

This facility comes into play when the reservation chart for the train is being prepared. If a vacant seat is found on a different train at that time, the system automatically attempts to transfer your ticket to that train. The advantage is that this feature can be activated simply by selecting the corresponding option while booking your ticket.

How to Enable the ‘Opt Vikalp’ Feature:

  • Log in to the IRCTC app or website, then select your date of travel and the desired train.
  • While filling in the passenger details, scroll down to the ‘Other Preferences’ section and check the box labeled ‘Opt Vikalp.’
  • Complete the booking process thereafter, and the feature will be automatically activated.

How to Enable the Feature After Booking

  • Log in to the IRCTC app, navigate to ‘Booked Ticket History,’ and open the specific ticket for which you wish to enable the feature.
  • Click on the three dots located at the top. Select the ‘Opt Vikalp’ option to activate it. Check the box on the pop-up containing the terms and conditions.
  • A list of other trains operating on the same route will now appear. Select the train of your choice and click ‘Submit.’
