IRCTC New Website: The wait for IRCTC's new website may soon be over. The website is set to go live by July 15. Prior to that, its beta version will be launched shortly.

IRCTC New Website: Indian Railways is preparing to launch its new website soon. While speaking to students last month, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the new website for the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) would go live by July 15. Fresh details have now emerged indicating that the website's beta version is set for an imminent launch. Reports suggest that the new website will eliminate unnecessary CAPTCHAs and pop-ups, while also speeding up Tatkal ticket bookings. Additionally, the Railways is working to curb the use of bots in Tatkal ticket bookings.

What are the benefits of the new website?

Some reports claim that the website will launch with a capacity to handle 1 lakh (100,000) ticket bookings per minute. The new website could resolve issues related to slow speeds and frequent crashes that passengers currently face. It will display seat availability across all classes simultaneously, and once passenger details are saved, booking tickets repeatedly will become easier. It is worth noting that the current IRCTC site often crashes as soon as Tatkal booking opens, causing difficulties for passengers. Passengers also frequently complain about CAPTCHA requirements; the time limit to solve the CAPTCHA is often too short, meaning the booking window closes before it can be completed.

What to expect from the new website?

The IRCTC website is expected to feature a new design and a user-friendly interface capable of easily handling high traffic volumes. It is also anticipated that issues related to payment gateways will be resolved in the new version. Full details regarding all features will be revealed once the beta version is launched. It will be launched to the public after necessary improvements are made based on feedback received from the beta version.

88 percent of tickets are booked online

Indian Railways sees the highest volume of digital reservations. Approximately 88 percent of tickets are now booked online. The Railways has also been continuously modifying their rules regarding online booking. Since July of last year, Tatkal tickets can only be booked via the IRCTC website and app, and this process requires Aadhaar authentication.
