Vehicles with caste stickers like Jat, Brahmin, or Gurjar may face AI camera detection and hefty traffic fines.
Challan for Caste Stickers: If your vehicle bears a sticker indicating caste, this news is crucial for you. The Bihar government has issued directives to remove such stickers; failure to comply could result in traffic fines and legal action.
Challan for Caste Stickers: Nowadays, people affix various types of stickers to their vehicles. While some opt for motivational stickers, others choose to display words denoting their caste. Whenever you venture out on the roads, you have likely encountered vehicles displaying caste names such as Gurjar, Brahmin, Rajput, or Yadav. Many people view this as a matter of personal identity or style; however, doing so in Bihar could now prove to be a costly affair.
The State Transport Department has made it clear that any such caste-related words or stickers affixed to vehicles must be removed. Failure to do so will result in the issuance of a traffic challan (fine). This new measure has been implemented as part of the Bihar government’s initiative to make the state’s traffic management system more stringent and technology-driven.
One-Month Grace Period Granted
It is noteworthy that the Transport Department has granted a one-month grace period to all vehicle owners. During this time, individuals may remove caste-related words and stickers from their vehicles. However, it is imperative to note that if any such stickers or caste-related words are found on vehicles after the stipulated deadline, strict action will be taken.
How Much Will the Fine Be?
According to the Transport Department, anyone found violating this rule will face legal action under Sections 177 and 179 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
Additionally, a fine of up to ₹2,000 may be imposed.
If an individual violates this rule a second time, even stricter action may be initiated.
The department has appealed to the public to remove such stickers from their vehicles without delay.
Surveillance via AI Cameras
Any individual violating traffic rules will be identified.
Consequently, an automated e-challan will be issued.
Suspicious activities will be closely monitored. These Special Technologies Will Be Featured in the Cameras
The AI cameras will incorporate several advanced features, such as:
Automatic Number Plate Recognition
Facial Recognition
Surveillance Systems
Where Will the Cameras Be Installed?
The Transport Department has directed district officials to identify locations where:
Traffic volume is heavy.
Accidents occur frequently.
Traffic rules are violated.
The government plans to install these cameras on:
Highways
Major cities
Toll plazas
Congested areas
Why Was This Decision Taken?
The government believes that the use of caste-specific terms on roads could disrupt social harmony. Furthermore, the AI-based surveillance system is expected to make the traffic management system more transparent and effective.
