VB-G RAM G: Complaints under the rural employment scheme will be resolved within 15 days; learn how to file a complaint..
The central government has established a new system to address grievances from individuals working under rural employment schemes. On Monday, the Ministry of Rural Development notified the 'Viksit Bharat - Rozgar aur Aajeevika Mission (Gramin) Grievance Redressal Rules, 2026' (VB-G RAM G). Under these rules, grievances must be resolved within 15 days.
The objective of these new rules is to make the grievance resolution process simple, transparent, and accountable. According to the Ministry, this will ensure timely action on complaints raised by beneficiaries and ordinary citizens.
**System to be established at Gram Panchayat, Block, and District levels**
Under these rules, state governments are required to set up a grievance redressal mechanism at the Gram Panchayat, Block, and District levels. At each level, a designated Grievance Redressal Officer will be responsible for receiving, recording, investigating, and resolving complaints. At the district level, the District Programme Coordinator will oversee this process. In addition to the established formal mechanism, a 'Digital Public Infrastructure' for grievance redressal will also be utilized.
**Complaints can be filed online or offline**
Citizens will have multiple avenues to file complaints. If a complaint is received offline at the Gram Panchayat, Block, or District level, it must be recorded on the digital platform on the same day. If it is not possible to record it on the same day, it must be entered by the next working day.
Complaints can be submitted through the following channels:
* In person, before the relevant official
* Via Speed Post
* Through the central government’s digital platform
* Via a telephone helpline
* Through other channels notified by the state government
**Complaints cannot be rejected; a registration number will be issued**
Once a complaint is filed, the complainant will receive an acknowledgment receipt. This receipt will include a registration number, the date of receipt, and the designation of the official who received the complaint.
Acknowledgments for online complaints will be provided electronically, while those for offline complaints will be issued in physical (hard copy) form. The rules also clarify that a complaint cannot be rejected on the grounds of any deficiency in its format or the language in which it is filed. Furthermore, a complaint cannot be refused based on the method of submission or any procedural shortcoming.
