Indian Railways is set to launch the country's first Vande Bharat Sleeper Express next week, which will completely transform the experience of long-distance overnight travel. The most unique feature of this train is that passengers will only receive confirmed tickets. This means no more RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation) hassles or waiting list anxieties. If you get a ticket, you get a full berth; if not, the ticket won't be booked at all.

Until now, most long-distance trains had RAC, meaning two passengers shared one berth, but this rule will not apply to the Vande Bharat Sleeper. According to the Railway Board, only the available berths will be sold when bookings open. This will give passengers clear confirmation of their seat status.

Slightly higher fare, but premium amenities
The fare for the Vande Bharat Sleeper is slightly higher than that of regular trains. The railways have set a minimum charge for a distance of 400 kilometers, even if you travel a shorter distance. The fare for 3AC is approximately ₹2.40 per kilometer, for 2AC it is ₹3.10 per kilometer, and for 1AC it is ₹3.80 per kilometer. GST will be added separately to the AC class fares.

First Route
This sleeper train will be launched on the Howrah-Guwahati route. It will be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This train will complete the journey in approximately three hours, less time than existing express trains. It will be an overnight train, running at night and arriving at the destination in the morning.
