UPI Transactions: These figures, shared by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), show how the use of this platform has increased rapidly. UPI has achieved this historic milestone in the last few years.

UPI Record Transactions: You can also guess how much the popularity of UPI has increased in India moving towards digital from the fact that in a day, twice the population of America has been transacted through UPI. According to the data of the year 2024, the population of America was around 341.2 million, but in India, on August 2, 2025, a record 707 million transactions were done through UPI in a single day.

Rapidly growing popularity of UPI

These figures shared by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) show how the use of this platform has increased rapidly. UPI has achieved this historic milestone in the last few years. In 2023, there were about 350 million (35 crore) UPI transactions per day. By August 2024, this number increased to 500 million (50 crore). Now this figure has reached 700 million (70 crore).

Target of 1 billion (100 crore) transactions

Now the government's target is to increase the daily transactions through UPI to 1 billion (100 crore). It is estimated that if UPI transactions continue to grow in this direction, then this target will be achieved by next year.

Last month, about 19.5 billion (1.95 billion) transactions were done through UPI, with a total amount of more than Rs 25 lakh crore. About 85% of digital transactions in India are now done through UPI. Not only this, about 50% of the total digital transactions happening worldwide are now happening through UPI, which shows India's technological leadership capability.

It is worth noting that on August 2, 2025, for the first time, the number of daily transactions through UPI crossed 70 crores (700 million), which has been confirmed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) itself. In July 2025, an average of 65 crores (650 million) transactions were done daily through UPI. Experts believe that in early August, this number crossed 70 crores due to payments like rent, electricity-water bills and salary transfer being made through UPI.
