UPI Payment: Now PIN will not be required for UPI payment, government is working on a new system..

A big step can be taken towards making digital payments easier in India. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) may soon include biometric-based authentication in UPI payments. This means that now payment can be confirmed with face ID or fingerprint for UPI transactions, and there will be no need to enter PIN.
What has happened in UPI so far?
Currently, a 4 to 6-digit PIN has to be entered for UPI payments. This acts as a security layer, but at times it slows down the process. This can become a hindrance, especially for senior citizens and people from rural areas who find it difficult to use digital platforms.
What will be the benefit of biometric authentication?
Biometric authentication, such as fingerprint or face ID, will allow payments to be approved based only on body characteristics. Experts believe that this feature will make digital payments more accessible and secure for those who find it difficult to remember passwords or use smartphones.
There will be other changes in the UPI system.
Auto-debit transactions such as EMI or subscription payments will now be processed only before 10 am or after 9:30 pm. This will reduce the load on the server, and there will be no delay in transactions. Any user will be able to retrieve bank account information linked to their mobile number only 25 times per day. The status of pending transactions can be checked only 3 times a day and that too with an interval of 90 seconds each time.
