Create Your Personalized UPI ID: It's the digital age, and digital payments have become an integral part of our lives. The most widely used payment system is UPI, or Unified Payment Interface. Recently, NPCI, or the National Payments Corporation of India, added two remarkable features that further personalize it. Now, UPI payments are as easy and convenient as unlocking your mobile phone. This eliminates the hassle of remembering PINs. Payments are now being made using fingerprints or Face ID. Another interface has been introduced that allows you to create your own personalized UPI ID.

Your UPI, Your UPI ID
One problem with UPI IDs is that they're typically associated with your mobile number or email address, such as 7979XXXX46@hdfcbank or nileshb@axisbank. Having such an ID also reveals your mobile number. Especially for those who have made their UPI public for payments at their shop/establishment, your number becomes available to every customer. This is a privacy issue. The new feature (Create Your Own Custom UPI ID) allows you to create your own UPI ID, such as NIL2309@hdfcbank.

The feature is also available on the PayTM app.
This feature was previously available on the UPI app Google Pay, and is now available on PayTM as well. It is being said that this feature will be available on other UPI apps as well. This new UPI feature allows you to completely hide your phone number or email ID. Instead, you can use a custom text ID. That is, your UPI, your UPI ID.

How can you create your own custom UPI ID?

This new feature allows you to create a unique UPI ID of your choice, making it easier to remember and maintain your privacy. This will make transactions more personalized, just like the ID itself. Here's how to create your own UPI ID on the PayTM app:

First, open the Paytm app on your mobile device.

Go to your profile section.

Tap/click on 'UPI & Payment Settings'.

You'll see your linked accounts and existing UPI IDs.

Click on 'Create a New UPI ID'.
Create your own custom UPI ID using custom letters and numbers.

You can also create a backup UPI ID so that transactions don't stop if a payment fails on the new ID.
