To deal with financial fraud, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) will stop the facility of requesting money through the app. Banks and payment apps have been asked to stop the facility of collection between persons (P2P) i.e. payment request through UPI, from October 1.

NPCI said in a circular issued on July 29 that the process of P2P collection will not be allowed in UPI from October 1, 2025. This feature is used to send requests for money to other UPI app users. This reminds them to share the amount. However, this feature is being used to defraud UPI users. Currently, a maximum of Rs 2,000 can be demanded from a person at a time. Also, the limit of successful transactions is 50 per day. Rahul Jain, Chief Financial Officer, NTT Data Payment Services India, said, This change will reduce fraud significantly. Now, all P2P transactions will be initiated by the payer, for which users will have to scan a QR code.

Facilities for annual Fastag of Rs 3000 applicable from today

The annual Fastag pass facility for private cars, jeeps, and vans for Rs 3,000 will be applicable from Friday. This pass will allow crossing toll plazas 200 times in a year.

The Ministry of Road Transport has made the pass activation link available on the Highway Yatra app. The pass activation link will be available soon on the website of NHAI and the Ministry of Road Transport. The toll pass facility is only for non-commercial private vehicles. On closed tolling routes like the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, one trip will include both entry and exit, while on open tolling routes like the Delhi-Chandigarh, each toll plaza will be counted as a separate trip.

The pass can be recharged again after completion of 200 trips. Customers who already having Fastag will not need to buy a new tag. The pass will be valid only on national highways and expressways. The toll fee is automatically deducted by RFID technology in Fastag. It is worth noting that till December 1, 2024, 10.1 crore FASTags have been issued.
