Updating your Aadhaar card has become more expensive; learn how much the fee has increased

Aadhaar Update Fees: Updating your Aadhaar card has become more expensive. Fees have been increased for demographic and biometric updates. Find out how much the fee has increased.
The Aadhaar card is the most widely used document in India. Nearly 90% of the country's population has one. It is required for many purposes, from banking to government schemes. Without it, many people's work gets hampered.
Sometimes, when making an Aadhaar card, people enter information that needs to be changed later. UIDAI provides a facility for updating Aadhaar information. Anyone can update Aadhaar information.
However, different limits have been set for different updates, which require a fee. It should be noted that UIDAI recently increased the fee for updating Aadhaar information.
Regarding Aadhaar, demographic updates such as changing name, address, date of birth, mobile number, or email address will now cost ₹75. Previously, this fee was only ₹50. This rate change will significantly impact many people.
If demographic updates are made in Aadhaar along with biometric updates, there will be no additional charge. This means that if fingerprints, iris, or photo are also updated while changing name, address, or mobile number, only the demographic fee will be charged.
Also, biometric updates, i.e., fingerprints, iris, or photo, will now cost ₹125 instead of ₹100. This new fee has been implemented since October 1st, and may be further increased.
According to information received from UIDAI, the fee for biometric updates may increase from ₹125 to ₹150 from October 2028. You can visit your nearest Aadhaar center or apply through the online portal for Aadhaar updates.
