UP Polytechnic Exam 2026: A major update has emerged for the lakhs of students in Uttar Pradesh who are preparing to seek admission into polytechnic courses. The Joint Entrance Examination Council Uttar Pradesh (JEECUP) has released the new schedule for the UP Polytechnic Entrance Exam 2026. Following this announcement, enthusiasm has surged among those students who had been eagerly awaiting the exam dates for a long time and were continuously engaged in their preparations. This time, the examination will be conducted entirely in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. The Council has clarified that the exams will be held across various centers throughout the state within the scheduled dates. Consequently, candidates must now align their preparations with the new examination dates.
When Will the UP Polytechnic Entrance Exam Take Place Now?
Previously, the UPJEE-P 2026 examination was scheduled to be held between May 15 and May 22, 2026; however, the dates have now been revised. According to the new schedule, the examination will now be conducted between June 2 and June 9, 2026. The Council states that this decision was taken in consideration of the students’ demands and best interests, ensuring that all candidates receive ample time to prepare.
How Did the Schedule Change Due to the Extension of the Application Deadline?
Prior to this, JEECUP had also extended the deadline for online applications to May 11, 2026. A large number of students had requested additional time to submit their applications. For this very reason, the decision was made to reschedule the examination program as well, thereby providing students with a better opportunity to prepare once the application process is complete.
Exams to be Held at 175 Examination Centers
The UP Polytechnic Entrance Exam 2026 will be conducted at approximately 175 examination centers established across all districts of the state. Sanjeev Kumar Singh, the Secretary of the Council, stated that all necessary preparations for the transparent and smooth conduct of the examination have been completed. This time, the examination will be conducted entirely online—specifically in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode—to ensure that the examination process is more secure and organized.
Examination to be Held in Three Shifts
The JEECUP 2026 examination will be conducted daily across three distinct shifts. The first shift will commence at 8:00 AM. Information regarding the examination center and assigned shift will be provided to candidates on their admit cards. Therefore, students are advised to carefully read all guidelines prior to the examination.
What Will the Exam Pattern Be?
The JEECUP examination will be conducted in CBT mode, comprising a total of 100 multiple-choice questions. The total duration of the examination will be 150 minutes. Four marks will be awarded for every correct answer. There will be negative marking for incorrect responses, and the examination will carry a total weightage of 400 marks. Students in the Engineering Group will face questions from Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, while other groups will encounter questions covering English, Reasoning, and General Knowledge.
Mock Test Facility Also Introduced
To familiarize students with the online examination pattern and assist them in better preparation, a mock test link has been made available on the official JEECUP website. Candidates can practice online multiple times; this will provide them with hands-on experience of the CBT environment and aid them in time management. This year, over 4.25 lakh candidates have applied for the UP Polytechnic Entrance Exam 2026. Given this large volume of applicants, the Council has urged students to regularly monitor the official website for updates.
When Will Admit Cards Be Issued?
According to the Council, the examination admit cards will be released shortly on the official portal. Candidates will be able to download their admit cards using their login credentials. The admit card will contain details regarding the examination center, date, time, and essential guidelines. Consequently, candidates are advised to check the website regularly.
