UP e-Challan Waiver: All non-tax e-challans issued in Uttar Pradesh from 2017 to 2021 will be waived. A total of 30.52 lakh e-challans were issued from 2017 to 2021. This decision will benefit approximately 12.93 lakh vehicle drivers.

UP e-Challan Waiver: Before Diwali, the Yogi government provided significant relief to millions of vehicle drivers in Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh Transport Department has announced that all non-tax e-challans issued from 2017 to 2021 will be completely waived. This decision will benefit approximately 12.93 lakh vehicle drivers.

The main reason for this government decision is said to be the outstanding challans amounting to lakhs of rupees on thousands of vehicles. Many vehicle owners were unable to sell their vehicles, and facilities such as fitness permits or HSRP were also affected. With the challan waiver, all these vehicle-related problems will be resolved, and people will be able to handle their vehicle-related work without tension.

Whose Challans Will Be Waived?

According to the Transport Department, challans whose cases were pending in court as of December 31, 2021, will be displayed in the Disposed-Abated category on the portal.
On the other hand, challans that never went to court and whose time limit has expired will be closed as Closed-Time-Barred.
Boxes such as fitness permits, vehicle transfers, and high-security number plates associated with these challans will also be closed.

How many e-challans will be affected?

According to Transport Department data, a total of 30.52 lakh e-challans were issued from 2017 to 2021. Of these, 17.59 lakh have already been disposed of. The target is to settle the remaining 12.93 lakh challans within the next 30 days. According to the Transport Department, no relief will be provided for tax-related challans, serious crimes, road accidents, or IPC cases.
