The central government has given a big gift to the central employees before Diwali. The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions of the Central Government has notified the rules related to the Unified Pension Scheme. These rules are related to pension and retirement benefits. According to the new rules, a full pension will be given even after 20 years of service under UPS.

Under the new scheme, now employees will get the benefit of retirement even after completing only 20 years of regular service. They will get the benefit of a pension. Earlier, this limit was 25 years, which has been demanded to be reduced by the employees for a long time. Now the government has paid attention to this and given a great gift to the government employees before Diwali.

These facilities will be available.

Apart from this, employees who choose UPS will get many facilities other than a pension. For example, if an employee becomes disabled during service or dies for any reason. So in the case of disability, the employee and after death his family will have the right to choose the option under CCS Pension Rules or UPS rules. This will enable the family to get the benefit of a secure pension.

UPS Scheme
The Central Government implemented this scheme on 1 April 2025 as an alternative to the National Pension Scheme. Both the employee and the government contribute to this scheme. In case of delay in registration or credit of contribution, the government will also compensate the employees. Also, recently, the Finance Ministry had issued a statement saying that eligible employees under UPS can switch to NPS on a one-time basis. Employees can choose this scheme one year before their retirement or three months before taking VRS.

However, it has also been mentioned that employees who have been removed from their post due to disciplinary action or any such investigation is going on against them. In such a situation, those employees cannot switch UPS to NPS. For this, a date has been fixed till 30 September 2025.
