The Goa government is running the Griha Aadhar Scheme for women. Under this scheme, a large number of women in Goa are receiving financial assistance of Rs 1,500 per month. This scheme was launched in 2012 by then-Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. Initially, complaints of delayed payments were reported in some cases. Following this, the Women and Child Development Department organized special camps to address concerns and verify documents.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant directed officials to ensure that no eligible woman's payment remains pending. Therefore, the government has now decided to transfer the amount directly to their account on the 10th of every month. This amount provides significant support for medical expenses, children's education, and daily household expenses. Which women are eligible?
These women benefit from the scheme
Only women who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria can avail of this scheme. The first requirement relates to age. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and married. Additionally, she must reside permanently in Goa. According to the rules, the woman must have been living in Goa for the past 15 years.
Financial criteria have also been set. The combined income of the woman and her husband should not exceed ₹300,000. The government's goal is to provide direct assistance to families who truly need financial support. Benefits under the scheme are provided only if the eligibility criteria are met.
