Ujjwala Yojana: If you also want a free gas connection, you can apply, these are the eligibility of the scheme
The central government runs many schemes for the women of the country and one of the main schemes among these schemes is Ujjwala Yojana. Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojana was started on 1 May 2016 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for clean fuel better life. Through this scheme, women get free gas connections as well as the first refilling of the cylinder is also done for free. Also, the stove is available for free.
Crores of connections received
According to the information, till now 9 crore 60 lakh connections have been given by the government under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Under this scheme, gas cylinders are being given to women for Rs 450 from January 1, 2024. Eligible families will be given the benefit of 12 gas cylinders in 1 year.
This scheme is for poor people.
Let us tell you that this scheme is to provide gas cylinders at cheap rates to poor families by giving them free gas connections. So that women can be provided a clean fuel for cooking. Women of poor families who do not already have a gas connection can apply under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
Who is eligible?
Only women in the country are eligible to apply for the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Also, their age should be above 18 years. Applicant women should be from BPL families. There should not be any LPG connection in the applicant woman's house already.
