Truecaller has announced an insurance protection plan to protect users from mobile fraud. This plan named Truecaller Fraud Insurance is being offered to paid subscribers of the app on both Android and iOS. This plan is currently available only in India and will be launched in other places later. The caller ID platform has partnered with HDFC Ergo to offer insurance protection to users in India. Let us tell you that last month the company launched an Artificial Intelligence (AI) call scanner feature to prevent AI-based voice scams.
Truecaller Fraud Insurance
In a newsroom post, the company said, 'Truecaller is today announcing the launch of Truecaller Fraud Insurance. This product will be offered to premium customers and will be initially launched for iOS and Android users in India.' Announcing the insurance product, the company highlighted that it has been introduced to protect Truecaller users from online fraud and scams.
Truecaller Fraud Protection is being introduced in partnership with HDFC Ergo. This is a joint venture insurance company of HDFC and ERGO International in India. Under this plan, an amount of Rs 10,000 will be insured for the users. This fraud coverage is integrated into the app and users will be able to activate it after opting in. The company has not given any details about the circumstances where the insurance can be claimed, or what evidence users will have to share to get the covered amount.
However, this facility will not be available to everyone. The company said that it is only for premium customers, but this product will be given only to annual subscribers. Those who are not eligible in this way will be given the option to upgrade their plan to avail the benefit.
The company also said that subscribers of some plans will get Truecaller fraud insurance for free. Also, Truecaller Family subscribers can choose the option to extend the protection to all members.
