The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has taken strict action to curb spam calls. Now, TRAI has allowed commercial communication only through registered numbers. Anyone making spam calls from an unregistered number will face action. Under regulations, TRAI can suspend all telecom resources of such a caller or even disconnect their connection.

If you receive spam or marketing calls from an unregistered number, you can file a complaint on the Sanchar Sathi portal. The process is very simple, and your complaint will be registered in just a few steps. First, go to the Sanchar Sathi portal and tap or click on Citizen Centric Services. Then click on 'Report Suspected and Unsolicited Commercial Communications'. A new page will open where you can file a complaint. Select from the various options and submit the form. Remember, you must have a screenshot to file a complaint.
File a complaint within 7 days.
If you want action taken against spam callers, you must report within 7 days. If you report a spam call or SMS within 7 days of receiving it, action will be taken against the caller or sender. After seven days have passed since filing the complaint, no action will be taken against the person. However, the system will help identify them.
